Ministers of Defence from member states of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) are meeting in the Angolan capital Luanda ahead of a summit expected tomorrow. The heads of state will be meeting in a mini-summit to assess the implementation of the March 25 resolutions by the same forum, according to an ICGLR statement. Among the key resolutions made on March 25 this year, the regional bloc called for the immediate disarmament of the genocidal Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda. “(The ICGLR should) urgently engage militarily actions against those unwilling to disarm, in line with recommendations of Chiefs of Defence Staff,” reads the one of the March resolutions. Currently chaired by Angola, the ICGLR is made up of 12 member states; Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania and Zambia.
